SO grumpy

The sky oustide these windows are the brooding kind found in sepia-toned photographs of ruminant afternoons although it is barely 6 AM.

I'm going crazy from lack of sleep. At 5 AM today, my parents begin to empty the dishwasher in the kitchen. All the porcelain, granite, hard-soled slippers, and loud conversation: I don't know how much more of this I can take. I've tossed and turned. Buried my head between two accommodating pillows. Drunken half a liter of boiled water. All to no avail.

Partly, I am of course to blame. I tried to go to bed at a reasonable hour last night in preparation for the epic production that is Christmas Eve at our household where this year every extension of the reachable family is going to gather for 7 hours plus of merriment. The people are much more chill now, but I am still not prudent enough...

Thinking it would help me relax into slumber, I began translating a story from Chinese into English to keep warm the engines, but once I got started, I was so thirsty for that peace and quiet of the world of words after the elders have gone to sleep that I could not stop till 2:30. And thought I could get away with it because I don't have to meet B2 in town today till 11:30 by special clemency. But no, how naive to think I could get any sleep beyond 5 AM in this household?

More fuzzy stuff later,
Miss Grumpy Grump

Augh, that's the worst way to fall asleep again -- and it never works, either! >.< Tien ah...

Try reading something dense and abstract and that'll send you off to Noddyland in a trice. Sometimes when I pick up the Bible, a few turns of the pages zip me off to the Sandman's side in an instant. Try it. ;-)

Stop being such a workaholic. :-p

My love to my love. :muah:
